This week’s declaration is based on Hebrews 10:23: God is faithful. Meditate and speak this word to yourself to get it from your head into your heart. God is the most trustworthy being. He’s always there and His word never fails. I remember back in college when I lost my confidence in shooting the basketball for a period of three or four games. I don’t remember what caused it; but I do remember how I got out of it. For those three of four games, I did not take one shot. My coaches were frustrated; but very patient and encouraging with me. In the shoot around practice prior to my coming out of this drought; one of the assistant coaches worked with me for the entire practice. He told me that I had the green light and I was to shoot the ball every time it touched my hands. He didn’t care if I missed every shot. After that shoot around, I went back to my room and read Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I spent the entire day thinking on this verse. I wrote it on the inside of my hands as a reminder. Needless to say, the shooting drought ended at that evening’s game. It was God’s promise that helped me overcome a fear that I had developed. What is one thing that God’s promise has helped you overcome?
This week actually includes three combinations of exercise for both upper and lowerbody: Alternating Squat with upright row, Alternating Lunge with Overhead Press, and Alternating Curtsey Lunge with Bicep Curls. I hope you’re having an EXCELLENT week! A friend dropped by today with a birthday cake made of watermelon, blueberries, whipped cream and toasted coconut for me. It was absolutely DELICIOUS! Every year, she brings cupcakes or cake to my home on my birthday. She told me today that she will always show up on my birthday with cake for me. She also told me that even though I was her boss, I came at such a pivotal time in her life; and that she had never met someone so positive, encouraging and smiley. I hired her as a fitness instructor years ago. I thought she had a fabulous personality and such great potential. She was one of the most loyal and appreciative people that I’ve ever worked with. Even when I left that organization, she always stayed in contact. I praise God for the opportunity for not only being able to see her grow in her career; but also in her walk with Him; and as a wife and mother. She is a wonderful testimony of God’s purpose in our lives….no matter what our careers or ministries might be.
Ok, onward! This week’s declaration comes from James 1:22: I am a doer of the word. The exercise(s) of the week is Hip Abduction and bicep curls to strengthen both the outer thighs and upper arm muscles. Give them a go and let me know how your body responds! This week’s declaration is based on Proverbs 28:1: I am as bold as a lion. This week’s exercise is actually two: the upper body exercise is a lat pull down using a fitness tube; which strengthens the upper back and lats (side muscles of the back). When you pull the fitness tube down into your chest, squeeze your shoulder blades together. The other exercises is the curtsey lunge; which strengthens your glutes, inner and outer thighs. Go as low as comfortable; and be sure to keep your core engaged by pulling your belly button into your spine. If you have any questions; please feel free to ask! Have an excellent rest of the week!
This week’s declaration comes from 2 Corinthians 5:21 – I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Be sure to think on this and say it often. If you have an image of yourself that is not from God, it must be replaced with what He says about you. I absolutely love this confession and verse; because it always reminds me of God’s absolute goodness! There is nothing that we can do that will change the way that He sees us or His love for us. I thank God that His covenant with us is not based on our actions; but on His love for us. A great example of this is in Genesis chapter 20; when Abraham lied and said that Sarah was his sister, because he was scared and displayed cowardice behavior. In spite of Abraham’s behavior, God showed up to Abimelech in a dream; which resulted in Abraham not only getting his wife back; but also wealth. His prayer also wasn’t hindered; because he prayed for Abimelech & his nation so that the women wouldn’t be barren. God saw Abraham as righteous; and this was not determined by his behavior. Praise God!
Abraham might have had these character flaws in the beginning; but through God’s love and God seeing Him as righteous, Abraham’s behavior did eventually line up with how God saw him; because He began to see himself as God saw him. (This is a great place to shout Glory Hallelujah)!
Ok, I had not even planned to write that; but I’m sure someone will benefit from it. Now on to the exercise of the week. The plank exercise builds the core muscles (which includes the front & sides of your abs, back and butt muscles). It also strengthens your arm and chest muscles. It’s a great exercise! In the video, I show five variations of the plank, so select that one that works best for your body right now. I just thought about the wall plank. I should’ve added that. It’s great for anyone who has trouble getting down on the floor. If you fall into this category, just put your elbows on the wall, in front of your shoulders. Then walk your feet behind you and lean into your elbows. Be sure to pull your belly button into your spine and hold the exercise as long as you can.

The exercise of the week is a bridge with hamstring curl, using the foam roller. It’s one of my favorite exercises because it strengthens the lower back, bottom (glutes) and back of legs (calves). You can pick up a half roam roller from Five Below or Walmart for as little as $5 or $8. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you!
